  • Helen: Helen was born in China but has lived in Britain since she was 12. She is at university studying politics and economics. Helen is worried about her exams. She wants to get a good degree but doesn't study as much as she should. Khalid: Khalid was born in Bahrain, but he is studying English at a language school near the flat. He is also a part-time business student at the University. He loves sport, especially football, and is interested in music and fashion too. here
  • Alice: Alice is a nurse from London. She loves her job and gets a lot of satisfaction helping people get better. She wants to get married and have kids but she never seems to meet the right man.
  • Michal: Michal is Tim's cousin from Poland. He came to Britain to improve his English. He was a student in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) school. At first he was shy and he missed Poland a lot.

VOSCREEN

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo's blog I came across a site called Voscreen. After signing-up and choosing your native language from a list of nine, you’re shown a series of very short video TV/movie video clips where a phrase is said. Then, you have a choice of either clicking “I understand” or “Show Me The Script.” If you clip “Show Me The Script,” you’re shown two versions in your native language, and you have to choose which one is correct. Click on one and it shows if it’s the right one or not and then you can move to the next clip. If you clip "I understand", you're shown two versions in your native language, and you have to choose which one is correct, too. It is shown with green colour.

This site Voscreen is free, you can sign up, access through your Facebook account or start as a guest.

  • Do you take vitamin supplements ? What vitamin supplements do you use?
  • How much of your diet consists of prepackaged food?
  • How often do you eat junk food?
  • What do you do if you are ill?
  • How often do you go to the doctor's to get a regular check up?
  • Have you ever been on a successful diet?
  • Have you ever tried yoga?
  • Have you ever used a personal trainer?
  • What do you do to keep fit?
  • What other things would you like to do to keep fit?
  • Do you do anything that is unhealthy?

PAST TENSES: SIMPLE, CONTINUOUS, PERFECT

Click here to revise the past tenses.
  • Past simple is used to talk about an action started and finished at a specific time in the past.
  • Past continuous is used to talk about: actions or situations that lasted for some time in the past. Example: I was watching tv yesterday in the evening.
It is also used when an action in progress is interrupted by another action in the past.

Example: I was having a shower when someone knocked at the door.

Moreover, it is used when two actions are in progress at the same time in the past. Example: While I was watching tv, my sister was reading a book.

  • Past perfectit is used to emphasize that one action in the past happened before another action in the past.
example: I had finished my homework before I went playing football.

ONE DAY IN CAMPUS MORAGETE

One year later, we came back to "Campus Moragete" located in Requena. We had a good time, and we spent the day with native people speaking English. I think that it was a good experience, wasn't it? for those students who are at Elementary level, I think that they have learnt lots of vocabulary and now, they are concerned that their English isn't too bad as they thought before. Regarding, Intermediate students, they have improved their pronounciation and they have also learnt new vocabulary.

I'm really proud of you, now that the year-course is over, I hope to see you again next year and we will be able to manage to practice more English!! :) have a great summer holiday!

WITHOUT YOU BY DAVID GUETTA

Enjoy this fantastic song by David Guetta. I really love it! It makes me feel alive! Let's dance.
Moreover, this site lyrics training is brilliant for listening to music while practicing your English. You can choose your level from beginner to expert, and then you should fill in the blanks. You can stop the music and repeat, take your time and write it down. It's a cool way to improve your English.

Mosaic

What's the Mosaic project?

The Mosaic project is a compilation of interactive activities (listening, reading, use of English and speaking) designed for the EOI second level students (A2 or Pre-Intermediate) to practice, expand and consolidate the contents seen in the classroom. With the new curriculum for EOIs sometimes there is no time to do in class all the listening, speaking and reading activities we would like to since they can be too time-consuming but essential to the student. Therefore the aim of this project is to fill this gap.

True love
You're the one I'm dreaming of
Your heart fits me like a glove
And I'm gonna be true blue baby I love you

I've ....... all the lines

Those tear drops they won't fall again
I'm so excited 'cause you're my best friend
So if you should ever doubt
Wonder what love is all about
Just think back and remember dear
Those words ........... in your ear, I said

(chorus twice)

Intermediate:

No more sadness, I kiss it good-bye
The sun is bursting right out of the sky

WHITE FLAG by DIDO

"White Flag"

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or _______ you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I __________ I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or __________ to where we were

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you _____ by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

I will _____ down with this ship
And I won't _____ my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will ____

And when we ______
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it ______
And hold my tongue
And you will _______
That I've moved on....

I will ____ down with this ship
And I won't ______ my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will _____ down with this ship
And I won't _____ my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
